On the road home...

This morning we met my dad and June, my brother, my aunt and our friend Tony for breakfast at Mimi's Cafe before heading north to Kentucky. We had a great trip and I will be posting more pix from the week in Alabama soon. On the road I handed Mallory and Michael back a chocolate Santa to snack on. Later I looked back at Michael and was shocked to see his face and hands! Thank goodness for wipes! We had a wonderful trip and are so thankful to be back home in Frankfort safe and sound after the long drive. Happy New Year to everyone!

Bedtime Second Story

Michael and Mallory love climbing up Uncle Bud's stairs. We're staying at my brother's house and enjoy having the run of the upstairs. He has a great TV room with a big ol' plasma high def TV, a bedroom and full bath up here so we are able to really relax when we stay with him. Right now Michael is asleep in his pack n play, Mallory is drifting off with Uncle Bud and Paul and I are watching the NFL playoff game. Today we took a ride over to Auburn to visit my cousin Ed Crum and his wife Terri and kids, Carter and Courtney. We had a nice time chatting and Mallory enjoyed the playtime with her cousins. After our visit we drove Paul by the Auburn stadium and campus. He had never been to Auburn before.

Fun with Oma and Opa

Today Mallory went to see Bolt 3D with Mother and Lothar. They got popcorn and had a big time! We also took the kids to the mall to ride the carousel. I love being in Montgomery and visiting good friends. Michael and I went to see Ashley, Bobby and Andrew Ryals today. Ashley is expecting and just found out it's a girl! Then we went to see John, Maretta and Jeremiah Oswald. I love having time to catch up and just sit around and visit. Paul was busy with the bowl games all afternoon!

Wedding Day

Most people are probably getting ready to celebrate the new year but our family is preparing for my dad's wedding! Today is the big day and the ceremony will take place at 3 pm. There's lots of family around and we are about to eat Paul's gumbo before getting dressed and heading over to the church. Michael fell down my aunt's front steps yesterday and is all scraped up! Will try to post photos later!

Hanging out in Hayneville

Our family is down in Alabama for a little vacation and my father's wedding. We're staying the first part of the trip in Hayneville, a small town in Lowndes county, south of Montgomery. My aunt's house is a lot of fun with people everywhere, sleeping on couches, floors, chairs and last night our family was in a room with twin beds. Mallory fell in the crack between the bed and the wall while she was sleeping. (we then pushed the bed against the wall when Paul got in bed with her, not sure why we hadn't thought of that before!) Michael had a bad night and I had to get him out of his pack n play. He was sleeping with me in the other twin and fell out of the bed in the night! Tonight we're moving in to another room with a bigger bed! Tomorrow's the wedding and Mallory's first stint as a flower girl!

Today the kids and I drove over to Lexington to run a couple of errands before our trip to AL. After stopping by the mall, a couple of resale shops and Target we had lunch at Chik-fil-A, a real treat when you don't have one in your town. Frugal mom that I am, we all split an 8-piece nugget meal. Michael thought it was so intresting to dunk the fry in the polynesian sauce and see it slowly drip back in the container! They had fun in the play area after lunch. Then we got an ice dream to share for the road. A great day!
