A good one?

My friend Terri and I met for breakfast on our vacation. I asked the server to take our picture and she was happy to do so. She asked us to scoot together in the booth so we did. When she was pointing the camera at us I whispered to Terri, "It looks a little high." She snapped the camera, looked at it and said, "Oooh, it's a good one." She handed the camera back to me and Terri and I looked at the picture and got the biggest laugh. I showed it to Paul and for the rest of the trip he took the same kind of shot when I asked him to get pix of my friends and me!!!

Niece Update

Katy's surgery is Wednesday. Please lift her up as well as the entire family as she begins this great battle. Katy is pictured here in the middle with the striped shirt along with the first cousins that were at the reunion. We got to see Gracie on the trip as well. She is doing great and got wonderful news yesterday...no chemo needed!! Praise the Lord for that good report!

Feeding the ducks

We went by the Salato Wildlife Center the other day after I picked the kids up from school to feed the ducks. Michael ate more bread than he threw!

Please pray for these girls

Two of our nieces have recently been diagnosed with cancer. Please pray for them!

Little Gracie Matte is Paul's brother Bruce's granddaughter. She has retinal cancer and today they are taking one of her eyes out. It's so heartwrenching. She will have the surgery at St Jude's in Memphis. She is just two years old.

Katy Matte is Paul's sister Mary's daughter. She has breast cancer and has to have a double mastectomy. She is just 29 and the mother of two girls

The hills are alive

The kids and I went downtown for a walk the other night. The weather is perfect right now for an evening stroll on the capitol grounds. These pictures remind me of that scene from the Sound of Music when the captain returns from a trip with Frau Schmidt and sees his children climbing trees in their play clothes made of curtains. Yes, these are my children rolling down the capitol lawn and wandering around the governor's mansion gardens in their play cothes.

March Madness

My sweet mother played basketball at Happy Valley School in Oklahoma back in the 50s. Last year while visiting Lothar's son and family in Seattle she picked up the sport again. Last month she and Lothar went out and bought a basketball goal and had it installed at the top of their driveway. Pretty hip for a 69 year old grandmother don't you think?!

Oh the tulips....

These gorgeous patches of tulips are just about my favorite thing in Frankfort every year! I look forward to seeing them come up and drive by to check them from time to time as the start growing. Last Friday we drove by and there were just a few blooms. Today we rode back by the capitol and there they were in all their glory. So I had to rush the kids home to get dressed for the annual tulip photo shoot! (By the way, you can click on these pix to make them bigger to get a better view of the tulips.)
