So Proud of this Little Boy

Michael's teacher called me the other day to tell me how well he did on his sight word screening. She said no one in the class got more than two words and Michael got 39. She said he only missed one (that) and said "what" but thought he probably would have gotten it if he had looked closer. I have to say I never really have worked with him on reading. He totally picked it up on his own...all thanks to The Leap Frog Letter Factory DVD. I highly recommend it!!

Puppy from Heaven

So the kids have been wanting a dog for a long time. Paul taught them to pray about it and ask the Lord to lead them to the right dog. This past Thursday our principal heard a dog crying at the back door of the school building. She brought it into the office and gave it some water. The teacher I work with had been to the office to talk to Ms Heath about something and told me I needed to go see the dog in there. She told me how cute it was. I did and the ladies in the office said I could take him. I picked him up and walked next door to the church to show him to Paul. The pooch didn't have a collar and was all chopped up where someone had obviously taken a pair of scissors to his coat. He had fleas but not too bad. Paul was skeptical but said I could take him home and put him in the garage. Paul fed him when he went home
for lunch and let him out for a little while. I didn't tell the kids about him and they were totally surprised when I opened the garage (previous post).

We knew we would need to return him to his owner if someone surfaced so we checked the place at the local grocery where people post notices about lost dogs. Nothing was there for a couple of days so we took him to the vet and got him all checked out. The vet said he is some sort of terrier mix and is about 7 months old. He didn't have heart worms and he got all his shots. We'll have him fixed in three weeks. So far he's been wonderful. The kids love him and Paul and I are pretty smitten too. We really believe this is the Lord's answer to the kids' prayers:)

Here are a few more pix. Look at how he lies. Too funny. It's Super Dog!

Meeting Peaches

The kids finally got the dog they've been praying for. I'll post about how we got him later but for now here are the pix of the kids meeting him for the first time.

Posing

Right after Mallory had her hair done we were told we could go next door to a little studio and have her picture taken by a PhotoPass photographer. The pictures turned out really sweet I thought.

Dumbo

We had to ride Dumbo at Disney. Supposedly it's the most famous ride. The kids weren't that in to and never asked to ride it again. I suppose the really little ones love it!

Back to School

We had our open house last night. The kids took their teachers each a crayon wreath:) Mallory and Michael both have wonderful teachers for the new year. They are both Christians and are actually both in my age range! Most of the teachers are so young these days! Mallory's teacher, Laura LaPlant, is two years older than me and has a daughter named Mallory who just graduated from college:). Michael's teacher, Michelle McGruder, is also a pastor's wife. She's three years younger than me. Let's hear it for the Classes of 82, 84 and 87!!

And so it begins

Mallory has never been in to brand named clothing. She really doesn't care what labels are in her clothes. But alas most of her little friends are in to Justice so she's heard a lot of talk about it. We were heading to the mall the other day and she asked if she and I could go shopping there. She was real sweet about it so I didn't mind letting her pick an outfit. She was fine with getting something off the clearance rack which was 40% off and take an additional 40 %! She was just thrilled with her new duds and wanted to wear them out so she did. A lot of the Justice stuff is just not that cute to me but I think this little outfit is fine.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

This was such a fun thing to do for Mallory during our trip to Disney World. We made an early morning appointment, 8:15 am, and since the park doesn't open until 9 we got to go in before all the crowds and stroll down Main Street with hardly anyone around.

Here is Mallory checking in with the fairy godmothers in training for her appointment.
..

Here she's heading back to change in to the princess dress I happened to find the week we left at a consignment store for 6.00!

Waiting to be called back!

Her official invitation.

Ready to be pampered!

Daddy and Buddy watching all the fun.

These pictures crack me up. Two people working on her at the same time!

Here she is being sprinkled with the pixie dust!

All done, such a beautiful little princess.

Thank you to Granddaddy for this special treat!

The Pirates League

Mallory got to get alll dolled up at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique so Michael got his turn at The Pirates League. He wanted to be a ghost pirate but the gal talked himi out of it because it was a lot of make up and she said he'd be hot and miserable. He really wanted that look so was settling when he chose the Captain Hook face. He seemed to have fun and as we toured the park the rest of the day he got a lot of looks!
