German Feast by Lothar

My mother's husband Lothar is German, born and raised there, the whole works. He is named after the Bavarian King Lothar. He makes a special German dish called Kaes Spaetzle which is homemade noodles baked with cheese and topped with sauteed onions. He cooked it tonight along with German potato salad, cucumber salad and German sausages for some friends of ours from church. I made a German chocolate cake for dessert which I learned is only named for a man with the last name of German and is not really German at all! We all had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful German fare.

Christmas in January

My mother and Lothar got in yesterday and we had our Christmas with them. The family room looked just like Christmas morning with all the gifts my mother got the kids, and us! We left the tree up just for them. But we took it down today!

Dr. Wendy

Michael went to the dentist last week. Her name is Dr. Wendy. She was wearing a face mask like they do now. The other day he put this scarf on over his nose and said, "I'm Dr. Wendy" - too cute.

My little cheerleader

Mallory had her first Upward Cheerleading game this past week. All the girls did great! I am one of her coaches so am loving the entire experience. I hope Mallory is. Mommy was a cheerleader so was really sort of pushing this cheerleading thing. She seems to like it but we will see. The girls cheer for the Upward Basketball games. It is all just a lot of fun!

Michael's a preschooler!

Michael started a one day a week preschool class yesterday at the same school that Mallory attends. There are only 4 kids in his class and Mrs. Ballantyne is his teacher. We love her! She was Mallory's teacher last year. He only goes for three hours so it's not too much time for Mommy to miss him. He walked out with Mallory's class for pick-up. He did fine when we dropped him off and we got a note saying he had a great first day!

Sleepover, Spend the NIght, Slumber Party?

Mallory went to her first spend the night party a couple of weeks ago. Her friend Greta's birthday is New Year's Eve so it was a perfect night for Greta to have her party. Mallory was excited to go and she called it a sleepover. I kept calling it a spend the night party and Daddy called it a slumber party. Whatever the name, it was a perfect first one for Mallory. She and Greta have been friends since they were one and two years old. Greta's mom Tara is a good friend of mine so I trusted her completely. From the looks of things, they had a wonderful time. Tara said they all four slept on one air mattress. Greta is the little beauty with the red hair. She is now 6!
