Splish Splash Playdate

We had a big fun time in the backyard last week with pools, slip n slides and popcicles. One of my MOPS friends Candice brought her inflatable slip n slide which was a big hit with the kiddos. It was nice and hot but we moms stayed in the shade and enjoyed visiting. My friend Missy and her daughter Sydney were here so I wanted to plan something fun during their stay.

KY Retirement Party

Our good friend German just retired from the USAF after 27 years. His wife Teresa is one of my longest and dearest friends. We were KDs together at Troy way back in the mid-80s. His big retirement ceremony and celebration were in California where they were last stationed. We couldn't be there so when they traveled thru here last week on their cross country trip we had a mini-retirement party for him. He requested shrimp etouffee and blueberry cheesecake so I made that as well as a German chocolate cake for Teresa's upcoming birthday. When Paul and I had our first date he picked me up at their house in Gulfport MS where they were stationed at the time. Teresa was one of my bridesmaids and their son Christopher, now almost 13, was our ring bearer. Kaitlyn was just 2 when we got married. (German told me to put the RET after the Maj but later said it was supposed to be after Reyes!)

Old news

I can't believe I never got these pictures out from Mallory's last day of preschool. It was way back at the end of May. My two friends who were pregnant in these pictures have already had their babies. Mallory is about to start the new year at her new school. Life goes on. But I still wanted to share the album with all these sweet pictures.

Hacked

I got hacked today on my email account. Someone emailed from my account saying we were in the UK and had been robbed and needed help. When the person responded they were asked to send money. What a mess. This is a common scam from what I understand. Ignore it.

It's happening.

Mallory is really starting school in a few weeks. I can't believe it! We ordered her an LL Bean Original Bookpack and it came in the other day. They actually need full size, real backpacks for Kindergarten. No wheels. No little kiddie backpacks. Real, live, big, grown up backpacks. It's happening.

Blueberry Pickin'

We picked blueberries with Oma and Opa on our trip to Alabama. It was really fun and you could eat all you wanted as you picked. Turned out it was a pricey little outing...the four bags we picked came to $28 bucks! To see more of the harvesters' action click here.

Scary Slide

Look at how tall this slide was that we saw in a park in Indiana! Would you have a slide like that in your local park?! Michael hurried up it and didn't want to come down the slide part so I had to go up to retrieve him and got really frightened!!! The ladder was very steep. This thing is an accident waiting to happen.

Future College Students

The kids enjoyed playing in the fountain at Anderson University when we were in Indiana. I thought these were cute pictures. They almost look like a little couple on a date like you would see where I went to school at Oklahoma State around Theta Pond. Two things wrong with this though...one-they are way too young to be on a date and two-they're siblings! No Kentucky jokes please:)
