Big Easy Revisited

We were in New Orleans back in April but I never got to post any of these pix at the time. So...here are a few shots of the Mattes in the French Qtr at all our favorite places.

Paul always takes these architecture shots with no one in them.
Visiting with our good friend Vickie.Paul loves going up to the mighty Mississippi. His dad was a tugboat captain on the Mississippi.
Going in and out of souvenir shops.
Having dinner with our wonderful friends, Gerald and Michelle.
Eating the massive seafood platter at Deanie's. Seven of us ate on that thing and had some leftover!

Here we are near Jackson Square.
Our favorite candy shop for pralines, Southern Candymakers.
Cafe du Monde for beignets of course.
Walking the streets listening to the jazz musicians.

Matte Boys

The Matte name is alive and well. Paul has four brothers, two of them have three sons each. Another has two sons. Then Paul and one brother have one son each. Then of all those there are already lots of great grandson Mattes:) Here are Paul and two of his nephews, Steven and Jeff. And their sons, Drew, Michael, Josh and Joey.

Mini-Me

We were at the pool today for Mallory's swimming lessons and I looked at her and thought, "I have seen that girl somewhere before." It was ME! She reminded me of this OLD picture of me and my cousins, Sonya and Kathleen, and my brother taken way back in the old days.

Slumber Party

Our friend Malachi spent the night last week. The kids had fun watching a movie and dressing up as super heroes! Is it heros or heroes? Oh well, how about Super Friends?!

Swimming Lessons

Mallory is taking swim lessons again this year at our local city pool. We have been really pleased with the set up. There are 10 lessons for only $45.00. The teachers are one on one (sometimes two on one) with the students at the session we go to so it's like 10 private lessons. Here is Mallory with her teachers Olivia and Arianna.

Father's Day fun with Daddy

We had a great time celebrating with Daddy on Father's Day weekend. Saturday we went shoe shopping for Dad then out to a Japanese Steakhouse for dinner. We love the rice at those places! Michael started out liking the soup but that's about it. Sunday Mallory sang in the morning service and wished her daddy a Happy Father's Day at the end. Then we went to Captain D's! Paul loves that place and apparently used to go there a lot before we got married. He said I won't ever let him go there now ( I don't think that is the case but...) so when he opened the cards from the kids there were Captain D's coupons inside!

Mall play time

Oma and Opa and Uncle Bud took the kids to the mall in Lexington when they were here too. They have this great play area which I think all malls should have.

Michael's Mickey Party

We celebrated Michael's 2nd birthday this past weekend with a Mickey Mouse party. Michael loved it when everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. He sang along with them! What's cute is that Mallory sang along when she was two also. There are lots more pictures in an album on our Picasa page...click here.

Mal's first mani/pedi

Mother and I took Mallory to get her first manicure and pedicure the other day before her dance recital. It was a special thing to do with Oma. Mallory enjoyed it and had Ms. Missy paint black and white polka dots on her toes to match her dance costume!
