Mallory and Michael have been sleeping with us since Michael was born. We have a king bed and it's all been fine until recently. Everybody's getting bigger and the kids are getting sort of squished in the middle. Mallory decided she didn't like getting squeezed out so she wanted to sleep somewhere else. We thought it would be good for Mallory and Michael to transition to Michael's room since he has a queen bed in there. That way they're not totally alone after being with the family. Two nights ago we put them down in there and they went to sleep and that was that. Paul and I were watching TV and talking about how we were giong to miss them with us. How we couldn't believe they weren't in our room sleeping right then. I emailed a friend saying they were in another room and how I was sad but it was OK and everyone would probably sleep better. Paul and I headed to bed around 10:30. I thought it was great to be able to walk in our room and turn on the light to get ready for bed. I got all cozied in and stretched out when pitter patter, pitter patter, here comes Michael. Five minutes later, you guessed it, Mallory crawls in. So much for transitioning them out. The family bed is alive and well at the Matte home. Maybe this summer.

Look Oma, No Cavities!
The kids each had dental appointments yesterday and for the first time Michael had no cavities! Yea!!! Bless his heart he has a little mouth full of silver but maybe we are on the right track now. Mallory has never had a cavity and yesterday only had some of her permanent molars sealed. These pictures were taken last week at the Lexington Explorium, no relation to our dentist's office. He called my mother on the way home and said, "Oma! No cavities!" It was so cute.

Gatti's
Frankfort got a new Gatti's pizza with a big fun gameroom some time last spring. We just went for the first time this past Sunday but this is the only picture I managed to get. Michael's face is funny and cute I think. We rode the fun bumper cars in the background and had a blast! Thanks to our friend Martha for treating us to this outing!

Something Old, Nothing New
Nothing much has been going on to blog about. Just boring January days. My mother sent these pictures the other day. It's the best I can come up with to post something new (although they are all very OLD:).
I can see a teenincy bit of Michael in this picture of my brother.

Christmas Eve
Mallory and Michael sang Angels We Have Heard on High at our Christmas Eve service. Mallory has sang every Christmas Eve since she was two. Michael joined in last year. My pastor's daughter in Alabama at the church I grew up in and worked at always sang on Christmas Eve so I think it's a sweet tradition to adapt!

National Champs!
Congrats to the Auburn Tigers for winning the BCS National Championship! Here are Mallory and our neighbor Lillian cheering for the Tigers this past summer! My brother went to Auburn as did lots of other of my family and friends. I grew up an hour from there and often went the games with my great uncle, grandmother and other fun family members. We're so proud in Alabama of our football teams...last year Alabama was the Nat Champ and this year Auburn. Roll Tide and War Eagle!

"Mine burned down."
I got the kids gingerbread house kits at Wal Mart on clearance after Christmas for something to do while home on break. Michael's was all broken up but he still wanted to decorate it. At one point I heard him saying, "My gingerbread house burned down." Later after he was done he said, "this looks terrible." Bless his heart.

Casey
My brother's sweet dog Casey died yesterday. We were all shocked and so sad to lose her. Bud had had her for 12 years. I was with him at the Birmingham Galleria when he bought Casey at the pet store there back in 1998. I remember as we walked down the mall with her on our way to the car all the people who stopped to pet her and comment on her. We didn't know then what wonderful dogs schnauzers were. After 12 years we do now. He named her Casey Grace and I remember when he was going to fly with her I put letters on her crate saying "Hi, my name is Casey." Casey was a great companion for Bud. He took the best care of her. I am reminded of Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal..." We will all miss Casey dearly.

Pink and Green
Pink and green was big back in the preppy days of the 80s when I was in school. I love this outfit Mallory got for Christmas from Martha and Wesley so much. The pink, green, plaid, peter pan collar, knee socks and sweet little shoes are all so precious...I could just eat Mallory up in it! I also love the Kentucky touch with the horses. Just darling.
