Risky Business -toddler style

I was getting Michael out of his church clothes the other day and when I got to this stage it reminded me of the Tom Cruise shot in the movie Risky Business. Later when I looked up the actual photos from the movie I saw that Tom had his shirt buttoned up. Guess my memory wasn't too hot. But little Mikey sure is:)

Tea time!

Saturday I took Mallory to her first grown up tea at the Orlando Brown House in Frankfort. Orlando Brown was the son of John Brown, the first US senator from Kentucky. They do these teas during the month of February always with a special theme using characters from way back in the 1830's when the house was built (for a mere $5000.00). This one was a supposed bridal tea for one of the Brown daughters. We joined our friends Martha (it was her birthday!), Yvonne and Yvonne's grandaughter, Caroline. The tea was very nice and Mallory really enjoyed mixing up her own tea to the tune of three or four sugars per cup!

The Express...rent it!

Last night Paul and I watched The Express, a true story based on the life of Ernie Davis, the first black guy to win the Heisman. It was so good. I highly recommend it. There is some bad language, mostly the Syracuse coach getting upset with his players, etc. But other than that it is very heartwarming and inspiring. I didn't know anything about Ernie Davis but immediately had to google him after the show to find out more. Rent it... and be parepared to shed a few tears at the end.

A bad idea

My mother got us all Starbucks gift cards for Christmas. Even Mallory and Michael. Well, Mallory was at school the other day and I thought it would be fun to go get a hot chocolate on our way to pick her up. They do the kids' drinks with a very lukewarm temperature so I just passed Michael's little kiddie hot choc back to him in the car. I just knew he would be fine drinking it thru the little hole in the top like all the other millions of Starbucks customers in the world...wrong. As you can see from the pix he made a huge mess with it. When I reached back to take the cup away I thought it would be empty but there was still half a cup left. It could have really been bad!

Mallory's online

Our new computer came in so we set Mallory up with our old one so she could play her computer games online. She loves noggin.com and pbskids.org. She's really good with the games and it's so fun to see her at the computer. Of course now we have to figure out how to keep Michael from destroying the new kids' work station! Maybe we can find some sites for his age. Any suggestions?

Say it ain't snow...

It's been snowing all morning. We have several more inches out there. It's really pretty but Paul wishes it would melt and be 75 degrees out there! I love it when it is like this, all powdery and fluffy. I took Michael out this morning while Mallory was at school. There is still that icy layer under this new powder, however, and I fell down so we bailed out before somebody got hurt!

Super Fun

Last night we went to a Super Bowl party for the young marrieds in the church. All the kids were there so it was a big, loud, happy time. We were pulling for the Cardinals but the Steelers definitely deserved to win. I made Sonya's Black-eyed Pea Dip, Spinach and Artichoke Dip and some brownies. We had lots of good food and fun.
