My Sharks!

The kids have joined the swim team at the Sikeston Y. The team is the Sikeston Sharks. First meet is Saturday. So proud of them. It's a lot of hard work. They're in the water swimming laps for an hour and a half every day. Way to go M and M!

The Wild Woody

We tried out the wooden go-kart track at The Track in Gulf Shotes for the first time. Michael rode with Paul the first day and loved it. We went back the next day so Mallory could ride with her Daddy. I was going to drive Michael. I went around one time and chickened out. It was scary to me. I was poking along and Michael was screaming "go faster!"  I couldn't do it he was crying cause he wasn't having as much fun as he had the day before. It was a disaster. So I pulled off and asked the attendants if Paul could take my turn. They said sure and Michael ended up having a good ride with Daddy. All was well in Wild Woody land.

The Beach 2013!!

We had another wonderful trip to the beach. This year we stayed at Tradewinds in Orange Beach. We were on the top floor of the building which was the 13th. The view was nice but made me a bit uncomfortable. I think after staying up high and down low I prefer the ground level.

We met my mother and Lothar there again. My brother came down for two nites. We enjoyed arcade games at Adventure Island, go-karts at The Track and delicious meals at The Original Oyster House, Cosmo's and City Grill. My friend Kelly and her husband came over from Pensacola to join us for dinner on Tuesday nite. It is always great to see her. We've been friends for over 23 years.

We live making memories with our kids at the beach. They both loved playing in the gulf as well as the pool. It's a real blessing to spend the time with Oma and Opa and Uncle Bud too.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

We went to our first Cardinals game yesterday. St Louis is about 2.5 hours north of EP so we left bright and early to give ourselves time to stop for Starbucks in Cape Girardeau then lunch in St Louis before going in to Busch Stadium for the 12:45 game.

It was a bit overcast and drizzly as we were getting downtown and parking. But the sun came out bright and hot about the second inning and it was a perfect day for baseball. The Cards lost to the Mets but we had a great time.

We tried to do the game on the cheap which happened until we wanted concessions! We got the tickets half price so 12.50 each. I got our Cards tee shirts at Goodwill (my friend Brooke ended up giving me a nice new one that I wore) and we ate lunch before heading in so that helped.  Of course we had to get the kids some treats so they got frozen lemonades and shared a 6.50 pretzel. How crazy is that?! Those things will be 10 bucks in a few years!! My regular diet coke was 5.50!! I did discover you can get a free courtesy cup of ice then fill it at the water fountain.

We went to the wrong parking deck when we left and ended up taking a rickshaw ride to the right one. That was fun too.

We hope to go to more games in the future!! Go Cards!

This year's teacher gifts

I give the kids' teachers little treats throughout the school year. I love picking up little treats while in the checkout at Wal Mart and having the kids take their teachers little treats on just random school days. So, I don't feel the need to do something extravagant at the end of the year. This year I picked up these cute jars from Fred's. I had the vinyl initials put on them and then filled them with my aunt's delicious caramel puffcorn. They look a bit fallish but that's OK. My aunt sent some of this caramel puffcorn to my mother and I sampled it when they were here for Easter. I asked for the recipe then googled caramel puffcorn and found the exact one online. This is it. I highly recommend it. Very addicting!

Jars-$3.50
Letters-$2.50

Arts Festival

The Second Grade class performed at the district arts festival a couple of weeks ago. They sang some cute songs they had been learning throughout the year on the 7 Habits of Leadership. They did a great job!

Every student in the district had art work on display. Here is Michael with his portrait of
Martin Luther King Jr.

And a vase of flowers.

I'm not sure what this was.

Mallory wrote a book of poems called, "I'm a poet and didn't know it!"
