Play Ball!

The kids' both started ball last night. Michael is playing t-ball with ages 4-6 and Mallory is on a girls' coach pitch team for 7-9 year olds. They both had games at 6:00 pm in fields right across from each other so Paul and I were going back and forth. They did a great job! Each got on base twice with hits. I like how the girls' teams wear visors:)

Mallory's Piano Recital

Mallory had her first piano recital this year. She took piano last year in Frankfort but they didn't have a recital. It was actually held at the church so that was nice. Our good friends, Chris and Roseanna, from the Frankfort church were here for a visit that weekend and were very kind to stay that Sunday afternoon to attend the recital. It was nice for Mallory to have extra support there since we have no family here! She played six pieces and did a wonderful job. My dad sponsors her lessons as his mom did for my brother and me. She isn't big on practicing but for now I am going to make her because I wish my mom had made me! I took two years and quit and now I wish I could play. It's hard to tell a 7 year old "you're gonna wish you could play when you're 45".

School's Out Park Fun

We had a break in the heat yesterday so went to the park for a bit. The Helton kids went along and it happened to be Matthew's 8th birthday:)

Easter Baskets

I loaded these pictures in backwards so if you go from the bottom up you can see the kids going outside to look for their Easter baskets. We don't do the Easter Bunny thing but we do hide them in the yard. My mother said her mother always did that with theirs. I don't remember getting Easter baskets at all though I probably did. I just have no memory of the first Easter basket!

This particular morning we were about to head out to the church egg hunt so the kids are carrying some cute bags they got from Martha one year. They wanted to use them for the hunt this year.

School's Out for the Summer

Today is the last day of school here in East Prairie. It's my first last day as an asst teacher. Leslie and I received a few sweet gifts from some of our kids yesterday and I got all teary. She didn't. I commented that that was the difference between one year on the job for me and sixteen years for her.:)
I hadn't gotten the kids' teachers anything yet so was scrambling to come up with something. In years past when I wasn't working I had been all prepared with cute monogrammed gifts. It's such a different world as a working mom! I stopped by Dollar General and got these buckets and painted them last night. Michael has three teachers in his room (one is named Tammy). Mallory's teacher is getting married in two weeks so I put her new last name on hers. Mallory tells me she's a big Charlie Brown fan.

We had a great year...all three of us! Now it's three plus months off. Back to my old job til mid August:)

Wardrobe Selection Fail

I don't know what I was thinking when I put Michael in a nice Polo dress shirt on the day his class was going to dye eggs!
They actually painted them and even though it was washable paint not all of it came out:( Oh well, at least this was the last season for him to wear that shirt. He will outgrow it by next Spring.
