In the great green room...

In Frankfort we hear a lot about John Brown, KY's first US senator who built Liberty Hall and the house next door, the Orlando Brown House, which was built for one of his sons. I was surprised to hear that Margaret Wise Brown, the author of the famous children's book, Goodnight Moon, was a descendant. Because she wrote so many children's books there is a story time once a month at Liberty Hall featuring her works. I took the kids last week during Fall Break. Margaret actually grew up in New York but one of the books that was read mentioned her family in Kentucky and visits from her great aunts. She never married or had her own children and sadly died at the young age 42.
